Fancy a walk? Why not try one of our three circular walks that start and end in our car park. You could head south around the Swilgate, taking in our reed ponds and Wildflower Meadow. River and meadow walk signage here guides visitors through a wellbeing walk. Or how about heading north by the Tirle Brook to take a peak through our screens that overlook our scrapes? If you’d like a longer walk, why not combine both?

Perhaps a virtual walk is more your speed…head to the bottom of this page to immerse yourself in a 360 walk along the south end of the reserve. You’ll also find some audio walks on the reserve!

Walking Trails Overview:

  1. South Loop and Wellbeing Circular Walk: 1.1 miles, 20-30 minutes, step free and crosses the south and middle bridge. There are 2 gates during this walk, 1 Radar kissing gate and 1 one way latch gate.
  2. North Loop Circular Walk: 1.6 miles, 30-40 minutes, step free and crosses the middle and north bridge. The terrain is largely flat and level with some short steep slopes in places. There are 6 gates during this walk, all Radar kissing gates.
  3. Swilgate Circular Walk: 2.3 miles, 55-65 minutes. Combines the south and north loop.

Please be aware the middle bridge has a restricted width of 0.76 m. Please also note, most of the pathways across the reserve are grassy and can be wet and muddy in the winter months or after periods of heavy rainfall. Alternatively, in the summer months after long dry spells, the pathways can develop large cracks. Please wear suitable footwear for uneven ground and always check the conditions before visiting.

We know it’s not always possible to make in person visits to the reserve. Why not immerse yourself in this 360 video of a walk around the south of the reserve. This video was kindly produced for us by Nigel Hughes.
