The Access and Community Officer position has been funded by the Barnwood Trust. The Barnwood Trust aims to create change that better supports and empowers disabled people and people with mental health conditions in Gloucestershire.
Working with the Barnwood Trust, Tewkesbury Nature Reserve strives to increase access to nature for disabled people, neurodivergent people, people living with dementia, and people with mental health conditions in the local community. The aim is to provide an environment where people from diverse demographic communities and those identifying as disabled, feel safe, involved, and welcomed.
The Access and Community Officer will work with the local community to identify any physical and digital barriers to accessing the reserve. The Access Officer will also work closely with the Learning Officers to develop and deliver activities that provide enjoyment to fulfill a wide range of local people both physically and emotionally. An additional focus will be made to develop opportunities for older people and for those who are less mobile.
We at Tewkesbury Nature Reserve are grateful for the funding from Barnwood Trust, allowing opportunity to create change in the local community and connecting a wider population with the natural environment.
