April 2019

We are delighted to announce we have bagged £1,000 from a Tesco funding scheme.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help funding initiative, which sees grants – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to thousands of local community projects every year.

Millions of shoppers voted in stores up and down the country with customers choosing which local project they would like to get the top award using a token given to them at the check-out.

We have finally this year been able to use the funds as we wanted to, by meeting the primary programme outcome of ‘promoting active community participation in the development and use of outdoor spaces’. We wanted to make the reserve a haven for wildlife and a place where people could engage with nature. So we have purchased and installed at all of our entrances a welcoming sign encouraging members of the public to come and use and enjoy the reserve in a responsible way.

Bags of Help has awarded over £71 million in grants to over 23,000 community projects since launching in October 2015, and we are very grateful to Tesco for including us in their scheme.
